Crypto Hacker Behind $2 Million Theft Receives Job Offer
Bedrock, a liquid staking protocol for crypto assets, recently experienced a $2 million loss due to a security breach. On September 26, Web3 security firm Dedaub discovered a flaw in Bedrock’s uniBTC vaults. Despite alerting Bedrock to the issue, the protocol didn’t act swiftly enough, allowing an attacker to exploit the vulnerability. Dedaub commented, “Although we identified the issue hours before, by the time the team responded, the vulnerability had already been exploited.”
The hacker stole $2 million but had the potential to take up to $75 million. On September 27, Bedrock acknowledged the breach and assured users that existing funds were secure. The team is now collaborating with auditing firms to recover the stolen funds and is developing a reimbursement plan for those affected.
In an attempt to recover the stolen funds, Bedrock sent an on-chain message via Etherscan, offering the hacker a reward and a position as a white hat hacker. As of yet, the hacker has not responded to the offer.
